Saving Your Presentations

Never lose your work! Learn how to save and manage your presentations. ๐Ÿ’พ

Before You Startโ€‹

Account Required

You need a Slidepicker account to save presentations. Don't have one? Create an account first!

Saving for the First Timeโ€‹

Step 1: Click Saveโ€‹

Look at the top navigation bar and click the Save button.

Step 2: Name Your Presentationโ€‹

A popup window appears asking for:

  1. Presentation Name (Required)

    • Be descriptive!
    • Examples:
      • "Q4 Sales Pitch"
      • "Team Meeting Dec 2024"
      • "Product Launch Slides"
  2. Description (Optional)

    • Add notes about the presentation
    • Helps you remember what it's for
    • Examples:
      • "For client meeting on Friday"
      • "Annual review presentation"
      • "Draft version - needs review"

Step 3: Click Saveโ€‹

Click the Save Presentation button at the bottom of the popup.

Step 4: Success!โ€‹

You'll see a green notification: "Presentation saved successfully!" โœ…

Your presentation is now safely stored in the cloud!

Saving Changesโ€‹

Already saved your presentation? Saving updates is even easier!

Quick Saveโ€‹

  1. Make changes to your presentation
  2. Click Save button
  3. Done! Changes saved instantly!

No popup needed - it remembers your presentation name!

Auto-Save

Slidepicker saves your work in your browser automatically, so you won't lose recent changes even if you forget to click Save!

Opening Saved Presentationsโ€‹

Step 1: Click Openโ€‹

Click the Open button in the top navigation bar.

Step 2: Browse Your Presentationsโ€‹

A window shows all your saved presentations with:

  • ๐Ÿ“ Presentation name
  • ๐Ÿ“… Last edited date
  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Preview thumbnail (if available)

Step 3: Click to Openโ€‹

Click on any presentation to open it in the editor.

If you have unsaved changes, Slidepicker will ask if you want to save first!

Managing Your Presentationsโ€‹

Editing a Saved Presentationโ€‹

  1. Open the presentation (Open button)
  2. Make your changes
  3. Click Save
  4. Changes are saved to the same presentation

Creating a Copyโ€‹

Want to use a presentation as a starting point for a new one?

  1. Open the original presentation
  2. Make your changes
  3. Click Save
  4. When the popup appears, give it a NEW name
  5. Click Save

Now you have two presentations!

Deleting a Presentationโ€‹

Permanent Action

Deleted presentations cannot be recovered!

Coming soon: Delete option in the Open menu

For now: Contact [email protected] to delete presentations

What Gets Saved?โ€‹

When you save, Slidepicker stores:

  • โœ… All your markdown content
  • โœ… Slide background color
  • โœ… Text color
  • โœ… Presentation settings (transitions, etc.)
  • โœ… Your custom name and description
  • โœ… Last edited timestamp

Uploaded images are stored separately and linked to your account.

Your presentations are stored:

Tips for Organizingโ€‹

Good Naming Practicesโ€‹

โœ… Do:

  • "Client Pitch - Acme Corp - Dec 2024"
  • "Team Training: New Software"
  • "Sales Report Q4 2024"

โŒ Don't:

  • "Presentation 1"
  • "New"
  • "Untitled"
  • "Test"
Date Format

Adding dates helps you find presentations later!

Using Descriptionsโ€‹

Make descriptions useful:

Good Examples:

  • "Final version presented to board"
  • "Draft - needs feedback from Sarah"
  • "Template for monthly updates"
  • "Use this for new client meetings"

Tip: Treat descriptions like notes to your future self!

Common Workflowsโ€‹

Daily Workโ€‹

Morning:
1. Open yesterday's presentation
2. Make today's updates
3. Save
4. Present in meeting

Afternoon:
1. Start new presentation for tomorrow
2. Write content
3. Save
4. Done!

Weekly Reportsโ€‹

Week 1:
1. Use template or last week's report
2. Update with this week's data
3. Save as "Weekly Report - Week 1"

Week 2:
1. Open Week 1 report
2. Update data
3. Save as "Weekly Report - Week 2"

(Repeat...)

Client Presentationsโ€‹

First Draft:
1. Create presentation
2. Save as "Client Name - Draft 1"

Revision:
1. Open draft
2. Make changes
3. Save as "Client Name - Draft 2"

Final:
1. Open latest draft
2. Final edits
3. Save as "Client Name - FINAL"

Troubleshootingโ€‹

"Save button is grayed out"โ€‹

Problem: You're not signed in

Solution: Click Sign In (top right) and create/log into your account

"Can't find my presentation"โ€‹

Solutions:

  1. Check if you're signed into the correct account
  2. Look through the entire list (scroll down)
  3. Try signing out and back in
  4. Check if you saved it or just closed the browser

"Changes didn't save"โ€‹

Problem: Clicked Save but changes not there

Solutions:

  1. Make sure you're online (check internet connection)
  2. Try saving again
  3. Check if you opened the right presentation
  4. Browser might be caching - try hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R)

"Presentation name already exists"โ€‹

Problem: Two presentations can't have the same name

Solution: Add something to make it unique:

  • Add version number: "Presentation v2"
  • Add date: "Presentation - Dec 15"
  • Add status: "Presentation - Updated"

Exporting Presentationsโ€‹

Save as Markdown Fileโ€‹

Want to save your presentation as a file on your computer?

  1. Copy all text from editor (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C)
  2. Open Notepad or Text Editor
  3. Paste (Ctrl+V)
  4. Save as filename.md

This saves just the markdown text, not the styling or settings.

Export as PDF (Premium)โ€‹

Premium subscribers can export to PDF:

  1. Open presentation
  2. Click Export โ†’ PDF
  3. High-quality PDF downloads
  4. Perfect for sharing or printing!

Best Practicesโ€‹

Save Oftenโ€‹

Good Habit:

  • Save after major changes
  • Save before closing browser
  • Save before presenting

Why:

  • Prevents data loss
  • Creates restore points
  • Peace of mind

Descriptive Namesโ€‹

Use names that help you find things:

Format: [Type] - [Topic] - [Date]

Examples:

  • "Sales - Q4 Results - 2024-12"
  • "Training - Onboarding - Week 1"
  • "Client - Acme Corp - Proposal"

Regular Cleanupโ€‹

Every month:

  • Review old presentations
  • Delete outdated ones
  • Archive completed projects
  • Keep only what you need
